Council is giving air fryers to 6,000 pensioners
North Lincolnshire CouncilMore than 6,000 pensioners in North Lincolnshire will be given free air fryers, the council has said.
The authority has already distributed more than 1,000, with 5,000 more to be sent in the next few weeks.
One recipient in Scunthorpe said they hadn’t used their oven since the air fryer arrived because it was “amazing”.
The council is financing the cooking equipment from the government’s Household Support Fund (HSF) Winter fuel payment abolished For people who don’t get pension credit or other means-tested financial support.

Frank Cooper, of Scunthorpe, said the equipment had helped him make quick meals cheaply.
“It’s really easy to use and saves on washing up. I even made crispy roast potatoes in it for Christmas. It’s amazing,” she said.
The council is offering cooking training to help people learn how to use the appliances.
Waltham said: “We will be providing sessions to over 700 long-term residents who want to know how to use their air fryer efficiently and learn some new recipes.”
