Chernobyl reactor shield killed by Russian drone, says Ukraine
A Russian drone attack has hit the radiation shelter on the damaged reactor at the Chernonobile nuclear power plant, saying Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelanski.
He said that overnight strike killed the shelter of the fourth power unit that was destroyed in the plant, causing a fire, which has since been extinguished, he said.
Till Friday morning, the level of radiation in the plant did not increase, Zelansky said.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that fire security personnel and vehicles responded within a few minutes of the night. No casualties were made, the agency said.
