In 2020, a person has been jailed for 30 years for an attempt to kill two people with a meat cleaver outside Charlie Hebdo’s former Paris offices.

Mahmud’s defense lawyer, Albertic de Gyardan said that his customers lived and worked with Pakistanis and felt different from France.

“He does not speak French, he lives with Pakistanis, he works for Pakistanis,” said Mr. Guarden. “He never left Pakistan in his head.”
