BSNL to Launch eSIM, to complete 4G Network by June Next Year, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel
However, 5G networks of big private telecom companies like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio are present in large parts of the country. In this respect BSNL is far behind these companies. BSNL has said that it will start eSIM service by March next year. After this, 4G network will be made available across the country by June. The company does not plan to increase tariffs any time soon.
Last week, Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had said that the financial recovery of the company is going on. BSNL plans to launch 5G service in the middle of next year. Scindia had said that the functioning of BSNL is getting stronger. It is very important for a country like India to have three-four telecom companies. He said, “The company’s revenue has increased by 12 percent in the last three-four years. The company’s expenditure has decreased by two percent during this period. The company has been positive in terms of EBITDA for the last three years. The operating profit of BSNL has increased to about Rs 2,300. It has become crores of rupees.” The company plans to install one lakh towers by June next year.
Recently, a panel of Parliament had advised BSNL to take help from foreign companies till the indigenous technology improves. There are only four countries in the world that have their own technology stack to launch mobile networks. The central government wants to include India in the list of these countries. The parliamentary panel has advised BSNL to expand the scope of technology regarding 4G network. This panel says that the company should take help of foreign companies having expertise in using indigenous 4G stack as well as testing related solutions. The technology for this network is being provided to BSNL by a consortium led by Tata Group’s IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
