BSNL missed the opportunity! People are not happy with porting the number, started returning towards Jio and Airtel

BSNL vs Jio Airtel Vi: In July this year, when private telecom operators increased the prices of prepaid and postpaid mobile recharge, people took it seriously. Instead of getting expensive recharge done, users started porting their numbers to government company BSNL. Obviously BSNL stood to gain and the number of customers started increasing. The biggest loss was suffered by Voda-Idea (Vi), whose customers started shifting towards the government company. However, according to a report, now users are shifting towards private companies. Jio and Airtel have benefited the most from this.

According to the report of Economic Times, BSNL has lost the opportunity because the users shifting to it are facing the problem of network quality. According to the report, retailers in rural areas are getting customers who are porting their numbers from BSNL to Jio and Airtel. Vi may take more time to regain its lost customers because its 4G network is weaker than Jio and Airtel.

Quoting a research note from IIFL Securities, ET has reported that due to the tariff increase by top-3 telecom companies in July, the inclination of customers towards BSNL has reduced significantly. Some retailers have demanded port-out from BSNL to Jio and Bharti Airtel due to issues like network quality.

After recharge became expensive in July, Jio, Airtel and Vi lost about 7 lakh 58 thousand, 10 lakh and 10 lakh 41 thousand users respectively, while BSNL gained about 30 lakh subscribers. The latest data of TRAI shows that the gain of 30 lakh customers every month to BSNL has now reduced to very less.
