Broken lift leaves female stuck in flat for six days

A woman said that she has been “stirred” after getting stuck in her flat for about a week due to an order lift in her building.
Sonia James Sky, TY DERW in Swansi is one of the several inhabitants at the Retirement Housing Complex, who have been affected.
The 63 -year -old has arthritis, fibromyalgia, hypertension and asthma, and cannot use stairs in its building.
The Housing Association in charge of the building, Carredig, stated that it was conscious of the impact on the residents, and was working to resolve the mistake as soon as possible.
Ms. James, who lives alone on the third floor, said that the lift was out of order from Friday afternoon.
“On Friday, he told us that it would be fixed by Saturday afternoon, then it was Monday, and then we were told that it would be Wednesday, but it is still not decided.
“There are some of us in the building who have mobility problems, which means we cannot use stairs, so we are simply stuck in our flat.”
Ms. James has a care that travels her every day, and said that they were helping to bring her food and supply.

“They help me three times a day, morning, lunch and evening, and they have really been helpful,” he said.
“On Saturday, I distributed my shopping from a supermarket, and my two neighbors had to help the delivery driver bring food, so I really appreciate all the help that I am being given to me.
“But it has had an impact on me physically and mentally, the weather has been very good in the last few days, and I am trying to lose weight a little which is difficult due to my disability, so it has been terrible to get stuck in the flat.
“I pay full fare, just under £ 800 per month, a ratio is for service fee, and a part of it is to cover our lift.”

Robert Mcway, who is in his 70s, said it felt as if he was “trapped” in his apartment.
“I have helped a walk, and there is no way that I can walk above those stairs.
“I am angry about it. This is not the first time.”
A spokesman Kardig, the Housing Association, who takes care of the Ty Derw Complex, said: “Since Friday, our contractors have identified the cause of mistake in lift and replacement parts, which we hope that our engineers will be fit on February 27.
“We apologize for any inconvenience because we take the health and good of the tenants very seriously. Also try to solve the mistake as soon as possible, we are in regular contact with those who live in Ty Derw.
“We are not aware of someone who needs help to leave our flat, but we will definitely try to find a way to help someone who does so, to do so safely.”
