Britain’s economy failed to grow between July and September
The UK economy failed to grow between July and September, revised official data shows.
Preliminary estimates show the economy grew just 0.1% between July and September – and shrank during September itself.
Uncertainty over the budget was blamed for such slow growth.
In September, the Bank of England’s chief economist warned that the new government’s gloomy language had created fear and uncertainty among consumers, businesses and investors. But Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer denied that ministers had spoken to the country.
