Australians react to the smell of the plant in blooming

Around 20,000 people have visited the botanical gardens of Sydney to catch an endangered plant known as “Carpus Flower”.

Dubbed Putricia, the Titan Arum plant emits a bookid odor compared to “some rot” or “hot waste” for 24 hours after blooming.

Smell is the result of a chemical production that occurs for attracting pollinators in the plant.

Endangered Flowers – Sumatra, natives of Indonesia – only blooms every 7-10 years in the wild. It is believed that there are less than 1,000 plants globally, including farming.
