Australian Open 2025 results: Jannik Sinner beats Alexander Zverev to win second consecutive Melbourne title

Jannik Sinner underlined why he is the best men’s player in the world by claiming back-to-back Australian Open titles with a dominant victory over Alexander Zverev.
Italy’s top seed Sinner won in the decisive moments over second seed Zverev 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 6-3.
Despite her ongoing doping case, Sinner has been able to shake off the noise of claiming a third Grand Slam title.
After sealing the win with a composed cross-court winner on her first match point, the 23-year-old calmly raised her hands in the air before moving on to celebrate with her team.
Sinner did not face a single break point against Germany’s Zverev and lost only two sets during his run at Melbourne Park.
The straight-set victory was a showcase of Sinner’s tireless baseline play, physical strength and mental toughness.
The 27-year-old Zverev did not have the tools to break him and became more frustrated as a result.
Zverev becomes the sixth man in the Open era to lose his first three Grand Slam finals, having also suffered losses in the 2020 US Open and 2024 French Open showpieces.
After collapsing sadly in his chair, a clearly distressed Zverev leaned forward and covered his face with a towel.
