After turning on this option, there will be double security on your WhatsApp! Learn this trick
Although WhatsApp cannot be setup without OTP, but do you know that the Meta-owned messaging platform gives an extra layer of security to its users. We are talking about two-factor authentication, which, as per the platform’s claim, will make it impossible for any outsider to gain unauthorized access to your account. Two-Step Verification adds a special PIN for you to access your account. This is a simple but effective way to prevent hackers from gaining access to your WhatsApp, even if they have your SIM card.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to enable and manage two-step verification, ensuring that your chats, media, and personal details remain private and secure.
- First of all open WhatsApp.
- Now tap on the three dots menu in the top right corner (on Android devices) or the Settings icon in the bottom right corner on iOS.
- Now go to Account and select the Two-Step Verification option.
- Here you have to tap on Turn on.
- WhatsApp will ask you to set a 6 digit PIN. Here you have to set a PIN which you will always remember.
- Now WhatsApp will ask you to add a recovery email. You can also skip this option, but it would be wise to submit the email because even if you forget the PIN, you can recover it through the email.
- After setting the PIN and email, two-step verification will be enabled on your WhatsApp.
Let us tell you that you can disable it or change the PIN by going back to the two-step verification option inside the account. Also, avoid entering PINs that can be easily guessed, such as numbers repeating more than two, your date of birth, etc. Do not share your set PIN with anyone.
