PDC World Darts Championship 2025 results: Michael van Gerwen and Stephen Bunting win

In the afternoon session, Stephen Bunting came from behind to beat Kai Gotthard 3–1 and book his place in the third round.

Englishman Bunting, ranked eighth in the world, lost the first set and almost trailed 2-0 in the match before making an impressive comeback.

Gothardt, making his tournament debut, lost three darts in the double eight to win the second set, allowing Bunting to level the match with a double 10, and then won the third and fourth sets without losing a leg.

The victory of “The Bullet” sets up a last 32 meeting with the winner of Dirk van Duijvenbode’s meeting with Madras Razma after Christmas.

If Bunting progresses, he will face world number one and defending world champion Luke Humphries in the quarter-finals on New Year’s Day.

In the Friday afternoon session, the Dutch pair of Alexander Merckx and Wessel Nijman reached the second round with wins over Stefan Burton and Cameron Carolisen respectively.

England’s Ian White got a walkover win against Philippines’ Sandro Eric Sosing.

Sosing withdrew from the competition on medical grounds and was taken to hospital after suffering chest pains.
