No good for videos with wrong thumbnail and title on YouTube….
YouTube has said that its purpose is to ensure that viewers are not confused about the content they watch on this video streaming platform. This Google-owned company has said in a blog post that its aim is to deal with the problem of videos with wrong thumbnails. These are videos whose title or thumbnail does not match the content of the video. YouTube has also given some examples of such wrong thumbnails. In the thumbnail of one of the videos it is written ‘Top Political News’, whereas there is no news present in this video.
The company says that such practices can make viewers feel cheated or disappointed, especially when they look to content on YouTube for important information. To deal with this problem, the company will start removing content that violates this policy. The company has said that these measures will be implemented in the coming months. Earlier this month, Google’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sundar Pichai, was served a contempt notice by a Mumbai court for failing to remove a defamatory video on YouTube. Google has faced similar difficulties in some other countries also.
This notice was issued on November 21 by the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Ballard Pier, Mumbai. It said that YouTube has not complied with the order to remove a defamatory video given in March last year. Dhyan Foundation and its founder, Yogi Ashwini were targeted in this video. Dhyan Foundation had also filed a contempt petition against YouTube about two years ago. In this petition, it was alleged that YouTube was deliberately ignoring the court order.
