Man charged over crash that killed two-year-old boy
A 30-year-old man has been accused of causing an accident that claimed the life of a two-year-old boy.
Sharjeel Shahzad was arrested on Monday after a two-car collision in Smethwick, West Midlands, on Saturday evening.
He has also been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing serious injury, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and failing to stop after a collision.
A 29-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, who were in the same vehicle with the boy, remain in hospital in a serious condition.
The accident happened on Dartmouth Road.
The boy and the adults were in a Toyota Auris when it collided with a Porsche Cayenne just before 23:00 GMT.
Mr Shahzad has been remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
