Addenbroook’s surgeon in Cambridge was suspended after hurting children

An expert surgeon has been suspended from a world famous NHS Hospital, as nine children were left with permanent injuries under their care.

After raising concerns by the surgeons of the surgeon in October, a review was launched at Aidenbrook’s Hospital, Cambridge.

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said an independent expert in the last two and a half years took care of “below the required standards” on several occasions.

The Trust Chief Executive Rolland Sinkar said: “We are very sorry that this has happened and we apologize unreserved to our patients and their families.”

Addenbroooke’s nominated major trauma is the east of the Center.

The review completed in January analyzed many complex pediatric hip surgery cases conducted in the hospital.

It was found that some quality of children’s lives was affected, including their mobility.

The trust stated that the procedures under consideration did not result in dissection, but some children needed further surgery, they would not need otherwise.

During the investigation, the doctor was placed on restricted duties.

He was suspended after review and “fully cooperated” with the trust process, Sri Sinkar said.

A helpline was provided for the parents who were concerned about the treatment received by their children.

The trust is also contacting patients and their families to schedule appointments and go through further clinical assessment where needed.

Shri Sinkar said: “We take the matter very seriously and are committed to ensure that all affected patients and families receive proper care and support.”

The Hospital Trust approached the General Medical Council, NHS England and Care Quality Commission in light of review.

“We will recognize whether there was any opportunity to identify these concerns earlier and at the same time there were any broader learning and necessary changes in immediate and long term,” Sri Sinkar said.

He said that another review was planned in view of all the works done by the surgeon during his employment in the trust.

This is the second NHS Hospital, which has reviewed the work of a pediatric surgeon in the last six months.
