Three convicts of conspiracy to blackmail Michael Shumakar’s family

Three people have been convicted by a German court at an attempt to blackmail the family of East-Gaan 1 champion Michael Schumakar.
53 -year -old Yilmaz T was jailed for three years to threaten to upload 900 individual photos, about 600 videos and confidential medical records on the dark web until the Shumacker family by € 15m (£ 12m) did not pay.
His 30 -year -old son was sentenced to six months suspended for assistance and forcibly recovery. A former security guard at Shumakar’s house, who denied any participation, was suspended for two years.
Shumacher has not been publicly seen since the 2013 ski accident, resulting in severe brain injuries. His family has kept his medical condition private.
The father and son had accepted most of the allegations and a nightclub bouncer Yilmaz T at Constip in southern Germany told the court that what he had done was “very, very disgusting”.
“I realized that the second day in jail. I would answer for it.”
In his confession, he said that he had received two hard drives from the security guards, Marcus F, who was accused of passing sensitive files for “five figures”.
A hard drive is believed to have never been recovered.
The judge blamed the security guard for allowing blackmail to start. The lawyer of the Shumakar family said that he would challenge his suspended punishment.
Shumakar was working for the Marcus F family 18 months before the ski accident.
According to the rescue, Shumakar’s wife Korina asked him to digitize the private photos of the family. He argued that the material disappeared after ending his contract.
The court heard that the father and son emailed the family samples of the stolen files.
The recording of phone calls made to the Shumakar family was also played in the court.
In one of these conversations, Yilmaz T told the family that instead of trying to blackmail them, he was offering to work as a broker in returning the files and identify their source, which he he The “clean deal” was said.
The family alerted local authorities in Switzerland, who tracked the source of danger for Germany and the three were arrested in June 2024.
Schumachers’ lawyer, Thilo Dam said the sentences were very generous for what was “final betrayal” and he planned to appeal.
He said, “We do not agree with everything said by the court. You may be sure that we will end all legal possibilities at our disposal.”
He also expressed concern that a hard drive is missing despite several discoveries of the assets of the defendants.
“We don’t know where the missing hard drive is,” Mr. Dam said, “I don’t have a crystal ball, but there is a possibility of another danger through the back door.”
