Prince Rahm al-Husaini appointed as new Aga Khan

Rajkumar Rahm al-Husaini has been named the new Aga Khan, a spiritual leader of millions of Shia Ismaili Muslims worldwide.

He will play his role with his father Prince Karim Aga Khan, Who died on Tuesday at the age of 88.

Aga Khan Development Network said in a statement that Rajkumar Karim Aga Khan’s wish was ignored.

Prince Rahm al-Husaini Aga Khan V Ismaili will be the 50th hereditary Imam of Muslims who say they are direct decisive of Prophet Muhammad.

Ismailis is a Shia Muslim sect, honoring several Imams, including Imam Ismail, who died in 765 AD.

He has a population of about 15 million worldwide, including 500,000 in Pakistan.

There are also large population in India, Afghanistan and parts of Africa.

Prince Karim Aga Khan succeeded her grandfather as the Imam of Ismaili Muslims at the age of 20 in 1957.

Aga Khan Development Network said it was surrounded by family in Lisbon, Portugal.
