Syrian leaders will be in Saudi Arabia for two days and are expected to discuss relations between the two countries.
The real Syrian leader Ahmed al-Shra, who was nominated the president of the transitional government earlier this week, is set to visit Saudi Arabia for his first foreign trip after taking office.
Syrian sources told Al Jazeera on Saturday that Al-Shara would be in Saudi Arabia for two days and is expected to discuss relations between the two countries.
After the appointment of Al-Sara, opposition forces led an aggressive against Bashar al-Assad last December and ended their rule.
As the President, Al-Shara has also been authorized to create a temporary legislative council for the transitional phase that will work till adopting a new constitution.
Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sent a congratulatory message to Al-Shara after his appointment and wished him success.
Last month, Al-Shara told Al-Arabia TV that Saudi Arabia “definitely plays a big role in Syria’s future”, “a big investment opportunity for all neighboring countries”.
Last week, Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan visited Damascus, who promised to assist to lift international sanctions imposed during Al-Asad’s rule.
During a news conference after his meeting with Al-Shra, Prince Faisal said that Riyadh “is engaged in active dialogue with all concerned countries, whether the United States or European Union, and we are hearing positive messages. “
Syrian Foreign Minister Asad al-Shebani also visited Riyadh last month.
