The nominee of US President Donald Trump to lead the Federal Health Department says he is ‘not anti-vaccine’ as Democrats in his previous comments.
Robert F. Kennedy Junior has faced questions about his history of spreading the principles of anti-vaccine plot during a controversial United States Senate hearing on his nomination to be the health secretary of President Donald Trump.
Kennedy, who has been selected to lead the US Health and Human Services Department (HHS), demanded most of Wednesday’s hearing to remove the idea that it is “anti-vaccine”.
“News reports have claimed that I am anti-vaccine and anti-industry-I am neither. I am a pro -security, “he told the Senate Finance Committee.
“I believe TK plays an important role in healthcare,” he said.
But Kennedy, a former environmental lawyer and the son of late American senator Robert F. Kennedy, has become one of the politically polarization figures and Trump’s most controversial cabinet nominees.
Critics condemned him for a group of previous false statements, questioning the safety of vaccines, including the Kovid -19 epidemic.
At the beginning of Wednesday’s hearing, the top Democrat on the panel, Senator Ron Wayden said that Kennedy “embraced the principles of the conspiracy, quack (and) charlutons, especially when it comes to vaccine safety and efficacy”.
He said, “He has done his life to discourage and discourage his children from getting their children life-saving vaccines and discouraged. It has been attractive to him and placed it on the verge of immense power, ”said Vayeden.

Other Democrats also pointed out some of Kennedy’s previous statements that question his ability to lead HHS, which oversees health programs in the country.
Senator Michael Bennett asked the nominee nominee about his previous claim that the Kovid -19 epidemic was engineered to target white and black people, sparing Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people.
Kennedy replied that he was referring to federal research without expansion.
Bennett also asked Kennedy about a claim that lime disease is “possibly a military engineer bioopon”.
“I probably said so,” Kennedy replied.
But the Republican, which controls the 100-sit Senate, has largely supported Kennedy’s enrollment.
All the cabinet pics of Trump have been confirmed so far, Vice President JD Vance last week confirmed Pete Hegseth as the new head of the Pentagon by casting a tie-breaking vote.
50 votes are required to confirm Kennedy, who will face another hearing before a separate Senate committee on Thursday.
On Wednesday afternoon, while reporting from Washington, DC, Al Jazeera correspondent Mike Hanna said that the hearing was largely as expected, indicating more than “softball questions” and democrats from Republican.
“Republicans appear to be fully supported (of Kennedy’s enrollment), although in this country there were some questions about his ability to manage the huge insurance system,” Hannah said.
Kennedy was also pressed on his stance on abortion, Hannah said. While his position has moved over the years, Kennedy said on Wednesday that he would maintain the abortion policies of the Trump administration, including the availability of Pil Mifaprystone.
Kennedy escaped as an independent in the 2024 presidential race before leaving and endorsement of Trump in August.
He said on Wednesday that, if confirmed, he is planning to reach a promise of “making America again healthy” – Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.
