Displeasure over wrongly spelled painting of road
Newly painted road signs reading “Seep Clear” near a school have caused frustration among residents.
The misspelling appeared on a re-patched section of Watermoor Road in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
Photos of the sign, near Paternoster School, drew hundreds of comments on social media, with locals complaining that the error was part of a wider problem with the city’s roads.
Paul Skuse, who runs the Cirencester group on Facebook, posted: “Another high quality repair carried out.”
One member of the group said: “This must be a joke. No one can be that bad at spelling!”
Another complained that poor repairs were making the city’s streets and sidewalks dangerous for pushchair and wheelchair users.
One person commented: “(The) ‘repair’ won’t last long enough for anyone else to notice.”
Joe Harris, Liberal Democrat leader of Cotswold District Council, said the mistake was evidence that “the management of roads in this county is simply not good”.
Wales & West Utilities, which carried out the work, has been contacted for comment.
