Red weather warning for Wales as Storm Darragh approaches
Storm Darragh is set to bring extremely strong and damaging winds to much of the country this weekend, forecasters have said.
A red warning has been issued for the whole of Wales – the highest level, which warns of dangerous, potentially life-threatening weather.
Gusts of 90 mph (144 km/h) or more may hit the coasts and hills of west and south Wales and are expected to increase during the early hours of Saturday morning.
People are being warned to be alert for large waves hitting beaches, homes and roads, as well as flying debris and falling trees.
The weather office said power cuts and travel disruption were also possible.
The red warning will be in place from 03:00 GMT to 11:00 GMT on Saturday, while the amber wind warning will be in place from 01:00 to 21:00 GMT on Saturday.
