Donald Trump sworn in as 47th US President, condemns ‘American decline’ donald trump news

Donald Trump is sworn in for a second term as President of the United States in Washington DC.
Trump used his inaugural address to reiterate his grievances against his political opponents, saying he would “liberate” the country from a “radical and corrupt establishment”.
Declaring that the government was facing a “crisis of confidence”, Trump promised a bright future under his administration in his inaugural address. “Our sovereignty will be reclaimed. Our security will be restored. The scales of justice will be balanced again,” he said.
Trump claimed “a mandate to completely and utterly reverse a terrible betrayal”, promising to “give people back their trust, their wealth, their democracy and indeed their freedom”.
“From this moment on,” he said, “America’s decline is over.”
Trump also unveiled a series of executive actions he plans to take in quick succession after his inauguration. The executive order is the first step in what Trump is calling “America’s complete restoration and revolution of common sense.”
The cold weather rewrote the day’s drama. Trump’s swearing-in ceremony was held inside the US Capitol Rotunda – the first time it had happened in 40 years – and an event was held on a field in the city in place of the inaugural parade.
Crowds of Trump supporters who came to the city to watch the inauguration ceremony outside the US Capitol were left to find other places to watch the festivities.
Vice President J.D. Vance took the oath of office first at the U.S. Capitol, swearing on a Bible given to him by his great-grandmother. Shortly after, just after noon Eastern Time (17:00 GMT), Trump used both the family Bible and the Bible used by the late President Abraham Lincoln in 1861.
A cadre of billionaires and tech giants, including Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Tim Cook and Sundar Pichai, were given prominent positions in the Capitol Rotunda before the ceremony began, mingling with Trump’s visiting team.
The world’s richest man Elon Musk was also in attendance, as he is expected to lead an effort to reduce spending and federal staffing as an adviser to Trump.
