Two sisters who went missing in Aberdeen have walked to the bridge where they were last seen the day before they disappeared, police have said.

Eliza and Henrietta Huszty – both 32 and originally from Hungary – were last seen on Victoria Bridge in the early hours of Tuesday, January 7.

Police have now said that both women were seen on the same bridge on Monday afternoon.

And he sent a message to his landlady from the Bridge area early on Tuesday that he would not return to his flat.

The sisters – who are part of a group of three children – moved to Scotland about 10 years ago and were saving to buy their own home.

Since the alarm was raised the search has been focused around the River Dee. Police Scotland believe this is a missing persons investigation and not a criminal investigation.

On Tuesday morning, they crossed the bridge and turned right onto a footpath beside the river leading to Aberdeen Boat Club.

The investigation into their disappearance has now revealed that both women were seen on the same bridge at around 14:50 on Monday.

CCTV footage shows that Eliza and Henrietta spent five minutes on the footpath and Victoria Bridge but did not talk to anyone.

Authorities are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the sisters to come forward.

After visiting the bridge, footage shows the sisters walking through the city center via the Union Square Shopping Center and back to their flat in the Charlotte Street area.

Police said there was nothing to indicate that Eliza or Henrietta had left their flat again until they were last seen on the River Dee in the early hours of Tuesday.

Eliza and Henrietta have not been seen or heard from since and the search for them continues.

A text message was sent from Henrietta’s mobile phone to her landlady at 02:12 on Tuesday from the area of ​​Victoria Bridge, indicating that they would not be returning to the flat.

The phone then got disconnected from the network and has not been active since.

The following day, personal belongings were found inside the flat and the landlady reported her concerns to the police.

Superintendent David Howieson said: “We have carried out a significant investigation of public and private CCTV footage as we try to establish the activities of the sisters.

“Please think again, have you seen anyone matching their description?

“After returning home, there is nothing to indicate that Eliza or Henrietta left their flat again until they were last seen on the River Dee.

“Extensive inquiries are ongoing and I would again stress that there are no suspicious circumstances or anything to suggest criminality.”

One of the main theories is that the sisters somehow entered the water in the River Dee area that is being searched.

The area when the sisters disappeared was covered with snow and ice after a severe winter.

Officers spoke to pedestrians and motorists in the area during an early morning operation on Tuesday, a week after his disappearance, in a bid to shed more light on his activities.

An extensive search operation was launched with the help of police helicopters, divers and dogs.

Both women are described as white and of slim build, with long brown hair.

Two missing sisters had not told relatives they were planning to leave their rented Aberdeen flat any time soon, it was revealed earlier this week.

They were saving to buy a property but his brother József told BBC News it was “strange” that the family did not know they had decided to end their tenancy.

Speaking at his home in Budapest on Wednesday, Mr Huszti said: “We don’t understand this whole thing.

“They had written a message to their landlady, saying they wanted to terminate their tenancy agreement immediately. We had no knowledge of it.

“So it’s strange that the girls didn’t tell us anything about it. They never mentioned any such plan.”

“Even when my mother spoke to him on Saturday, he didn’t mention anything about whether he had any plans to go out.”
