Kitesurfing Olympian saves drowning woman in moments
Video shows the moment Olympic kiteboarder Bruno Lobo rescued a woman who appeared to be drowning in the ocean.
The athlete was practicing with a new camera while kite flying off the coast of Sao Luis in Brazil when he heard someone screaming.
Lobo, who is also an orthopedic doctor, placed the woman on his back and used his kite to carry her to the shore.
The woman was seen meeting friends on the shoreline and exiting the beach. “I only did my duty” and was “at the right place at the right time,” Lobo said in a self-filmed video on Instagram.
The athlete said he wanted to use the opportunity to warn people on social media that “the sea is really very dangerous” and that “the tide can pull you into the sea”.
