2-year-old boy dies after ‘medical episode’ in nursery


A two-year-old boy has died after a “fatal medical episode” at a nursery, police have said.
Merseyside Police said detectives are investigating the child’s death after emergency services were called to an Early Learners Day Nursery in Bootle, Merseyside, just after 12:30 GMT on Tuesday.
The boy was taken to hospital where he was declared dead.
The force said the full circumstances surrounding his death had still not been established.
It said the boy’s family was being provided support by specialist officers.
Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm that an investigation is underway following reports that a two-year-old boy suffered a fatal medical episode at a children’s nursery in Bootle.
“An investigation has been launched to establish the full circumstances and cause of death.”
The nursery on Hawthorn Road is currently closed.
